Student Success Statement
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

-Thomas Carlyle
Reflection:

I think this quote by Thomas Carlyle is completely true. This statement is true because if you have no goal then you have no plans for the future and if you have no plans for the future then you are lost and have no where to go. Just like if a boat didn’t have a rudder then it would have no plans and you be lost and stranded because it has no direction. But if you do have a goal then you have plans to go either direction and make it to your goal. If a boat has a rudder than it has direction and can make it to its destination. If you set your goal then you will soon make it to your destination and keep on going just like a ship.

Student Success Statement
“If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in world.
Conclusion:
If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.”

-Chinese Proverb
Reflection:

I think that this quote by the Chinese proverb is outstanding. I also think more people should look at this statement and live by it because it teaches us a great lesson. You can’t make peace in the world unless you start small by making peace with yourself and then continue on and soon enough the peace will spread.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”

-Sophocles
Reflection:

I think this quote by Sophocles is great. I completely agree with this statement because it is true because it is better to not win but you tried your best than not trying at all or even cheating and winning. For example if you are a professional basketball player and you take drugs to do better at the finals games and you win is horrible because you are playing a hardworking team and you win but still feel like a loser. But if you try hard enough and you lose its okay because by you losing you will get better at the game.
  1. Memorial Day
A day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, traditionally observed on May 30 but now officially observed on the last Monday in May. Memorial Day started as an event to honor Union soldiers, who had died during the American Civil War. It was inspired by the way people in the Southern states honored their dead. After World War I, it was extended to include all men and women, who died in any war or military action. Memorial Day is Monday May 25. Ways to honor/celebration memorial day is by going to a place where they honor the military like an event they’re having or even by having a party or a small gathering.

Student Success Statement
“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”

-Wilford Woodruff

Reflection:
I think this statement by Wilford Woodruff is outstanding. I completely agree with Wilford Woodruff, because it is true you can never get anything good out doing what’s wrong. For example if you cheat on test by copying off of someone else then you will get nothing good out of it, all you will get is regret and feel ashamed. But if you do something good like study for a test then you will feel good and get something good from it like a higher grade and respect.

Video Reflection: "Nicest Man in the World"

Today we watched a video about a man named Patrick Morgan who is from Florida. Patrick Morgan works at a airport. While he was working he found an Ipad lying there he picked it up and found thousands of dollars in the case. Patrick then looked for the rightful owner and contacted him to give him his Ipad and money. The owner gave him $60 dollars as a reward, Patrick did not keep the money for himself he gave it to a homeless woman. People then found about his good deeds and then gave him a reward for his hard work and $623 dollar check. I thought this was a great video it really shows great character.

"The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self- respect, dignity (self-worth), integerity, and self-esteem."

-Dr.Laura Schlessinger
Reflection:
I think this statement by Dr.Laura Schlessinger is great. I completely agree with this quote, because if you do something good you feel amazing and it makes you a better person. So the more you do good then the better you will feel and it will stay with you it helps you gain respect and raises up your self-esteem. But if you do wrong then you will feel horrible and no one will respect you. That feeling of horribleness will stick with you and it will completely lower your self-esteem.

Video Reflection:

We watched a video about a prisoner named Eric Smallridge and he was in prison because he was drinking and driving. While he was drinking and driving he killed two girls that he crashed into named Megan and Lisa. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing these two girls. One of the victims mother Renee hated the man who killed her daughter for many years and then she realized something. She realized that holding a grudge for Eric Smallridge wouldn't do any good for her so she made a crazy decision. Renee went to the judge and told them that she would like to reduce Eric's sentence because she forgave him for what he did. She sent him a letter telling him why she did that and he wrote back to her many times apologizing for the horrible thing he did. Now they both go to high schools and talk about the consequences of drinking and driving. I thought that this video was great because it was very different and not something you would expect. I did not expect that she was going to fight for his sentence to be reduced.

“When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”

-Alan Paton
Reflection:

I think this quote by Alan Paton is great. It is absolutely true, because you can never truly get over what someone has done to you until you forgive and forget. If you don’t then you will always hold a grudge for that person. The person who did you wrong probably feels bad about what they did and they want to make it up to you then you should at least give them a chance. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Student Success Statement
“Dare to stand alone.”

-Thomas S. Monson
Reflection:

I think this quote by Thomas S. Monson is great. I think this statement is great because if you stand alone then you won’t be getting into any of the consequences others might get into. If you don’t think what others or your friends are doing is right then stand up and walk away from that because you know once they get caught you won’t be a part of that. If you stand alone then everything will be fine and nothing bad will ever effect your life or your future.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs are an American professional basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas. They are part of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They are the current NBA champions. The Spurs are one of four former American Basketball Association teams to remain intact in the NBA after the 1976 ABA–NBA merger and the only former ABA team to have won an NBA championship. The Spurs' five NBA championships are the fourth most in history behind only the Boston Celtics (17), Los Angeles Lakers (16), and Chicago Bulls (6). The Spurs currently rank first among active franchises for the highest winning percentage in NBA history. San Antonio is the home to the best team on the NBA  the Spurs with their amazing coach Gregg Popovich with him as their coach they have winning streaks winning the finals and becoming MVP’s. They have played tough games against the Miami Heat and other teams and they still manage to win the game with out cheating. They’re motto is “Built not Bought” because the Spurs are built with strong players and are loyal to their players by keeping them for many years. The best Players are big 3 which has Tim Duncan ( the oldest member), Parker, and Ginobili without Big 3 the team would be nothing because they are the whole structure of the team. They also have more newer players like number 14 Danny Green who is amazing at making 3 pointers and whenever the team is down points he always comes through and makes the shots. The Spurs are my all time favorite NBA team and I hope to see them play and win the game this Saturday! #Spursnation
