Magazine Writer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Magazine journalists research and write news articles and
features for a wide variety of publications, usually periodicals, including: Consumer
titles which cover both general interest and specialist areas; Customer. Magazines
from shops, supermarkets, etc. trade publications, also know as business-to-business
(B2B) magazines. Magazine journalism can cover a range of disciplines, such as
writing, interviewing, sub-editing, and designing. Increasingly, magazines are
also being produced for other media, especially the web. Knowledge of the
concise writing style needed for the internet and search engine optimisation
are very useful skills.
Salary:
$49,920-$55,125 a year
Education:
Individuals interested in becoming magazine writers may
consider earning bachelor's degrees in journalism or a related major. Some
programs offer concentrations or courses in magazine writing. Journalism
programs focus on the basic principles of media writing, including editing,
composition, theory and ethics. Many schools have campus newspapers that allow
students to gain experience investigating and writing feature stories,
editorials and columns.
Reflection:
Yes I would love to work as a magazine writer. I think it
would be great because I like to write and to work for a magazine like Vouge
would be the best thing ever cause I love the magazine. This would be my dream
job.
