Chiropractors
Duties and Responsibilities:
Chiropractors are primary
healthcare professionals concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention
of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effect of these
disorders on the functioning of the nervous system and general health. Their
aim is to relieve pain, increase mobility and to get patients back to full
health and movement. Treatment involves using the hands to apply a specific
force to adjust the joints of the body. Chiropractors treat chronic and acute
conditions which include back, shoulder and neck problems and joint, posture
and muscle issues, as well as sports injuries
Salary:
$134,941- $232,510
Education:
The typical applicant at a
chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical
undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and
organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. Once accepted into
an accredited chiropractic college, the requirements become even more demanding
— four to five academic years of professional study are the standard. Because
of the hands-on nature of chiropractic, and the intricate adjusting techniques,
a significant portion of time is spent in clinical training.
Reflection:
I don’t think I would like to be a
chiropractor because for me it would be kinda weird to be touching peoples
backs and it seems boring.
